Industry Person of the Week- Nicole Osborne

Our Industry Person of the Week is Nicole Osborne. Nicole is a Regional Senior Product Manager – Americas – at GRUNDFOS.

Q: How did you get started working in your field?

Nicole: I actually fell into the industry by “default”. I started my career in the pharmaceutical industry and when the site I was working at for over 15 years moved the operations outside of the US, I was contacted by a Global Pump Company that had a facility in the same city. The transition from pharmaceuticals to pumps was certainly challenging, but a welcomed opportunity to work in a new market and learn, develop and grow in a business that will also benefit people’s lives.

Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?

Nicole: Throughout my career, I have felt the most satisfaction knowing that I am helping people solve problems while developing sustainable solutions. My current role focuses on product portfolio strategy with the task to successfully link future market needs and customer needs to product research and development.

Truly, my proudest moment is probably yet to come as I am always looking ahead and striving to make the most out of tomorrow. Currently, I am most proud of having found the true balance between being a successful working professional and the mom of an amazing daughter. I am invested to raise her to be a strong, independent woman who is honorable, compassionate and tenacious in spirit.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?

Nicole: My recommendation for someone in this field of work is to genuinely care about your customers. Industry wide collaboration is vital to positively impact the lives of everyone across the globe and their environment. Fortunately, our industry is full of individuals with many years of experience and knowledge, so ask questions and work together to find solutions. Build your network and create meaningful relationships with your professional colleagues and your community. Be open and take advantage of the opportunities in front of you, especially being a woman in this industry. Face challenges head on and make a plan to conquer them.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

Nicole: Sometimes, you have to compromise, but NEVER when it comes to your integrity. Once you lose that, it’s gone forever. Always be honest, sincere and ethical. Be a positive role model and mentor, and blaze the trail for those that will come after you. Create paths that are filled with open-mindedness, diversity, courage, empowerment to dream bigger, and embrace failure. Success does not derive from success, it is attained from failure.
