Industry Person of the Week- Naomi Jabbari

Our Industry Person of the Week is Naomi Jabbari, a heat transfer engineer with S & B Engineers and Constructors, Ltd.

How did you get started working in your field?

Naomi: Engineering was my childhood dream. I was interested to science and specially heat transfer phenomena. In 2007, I started my job in oil and gas industry as a mechanical engineer for heat transfer equipment design. From 2020, I have focused on Net Zero goals and energy transition since I believe heat transfer will play significant role in zero emission future.

What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?

Naomi: I enjoy challenges in energy projects. Heat transfer and mass transfer are the basics for any energy project and I enjoy solving difficult heat transfer problems and design of exchangers. I am so proud of being member of heat transfer community in the world’s capital of energy, Houston. Being chair and vice-chair of Heat Exchanger World America’s conference provided me the opportunities to learn from incredible mentors and also share my knowledge and experience with others.
What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?
continuous learning and updating knowledge are the keys of success in any engineering field. Learn from your mistakes and also others mistakes, Focus on your goals, be team player and value your network to use others experiences and find good mentors.

Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?

Naomi: In June 2023, I helped Valve World America’s conference and expo to organize “Net Zero Forum” to discuss about Energy Transition and Net Zero challenges and it was a great success. I believe existing oil and gas infrastructure should be used to speed up transition and existing heat transfer and flow control markets are already involved to reach ambitious goals for Net Zero by 2050.

Anything else you would like to add?

Naomi: I believe in female leadership for “Net Zero by 2050” and energy transition. I have passion and personal motivation for zero emission future and I use my heat transfer knowledge and experience to help U.S Energy market to reach Net Zero Goals and build better future for our kids.
