Industry Person of the Week- Lexi McDermott

Our Industry Person of the Week is Lexi McDermott. Lexi is a Welding Supply Channel Specialist at Dynabrade Power Tools.

Q: How did you get started working in your field?

Lexi: The luck of a recruiter. I was a distributor sales specialist in the industrial print industry when a recruiter reached out about a very similar position at Dynabrade. I have been with Dynabrade for 2 years now, working with national accounts and the welding industry, and I love it.

Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?

Lexi: The best thing about my job is the creativity and freedom involved in it. I travel the US in support of Dynabrade’s 35 territory managers to assist in the growth and support of the welding industry. One of my favorite aspects of my position is performing hands-on training of Dynabrade’s tools and applications to distributors and end-users across the country.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?

Lexi: In the B2B world, think outside of the box. Each customer that you work with is different, work to their advantage. In the welding industry – use all of the resources available to you and constantly practice. there are so many tutorials online from experts in the industry. (especially on YouTube) There is also an incredible amount of training materials available on manufacturing websites, Dynabrade’s included.

Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?

Lexi: A recent project that I am really excited about is Dynabrade Vocational Program. We will be partnering with welding programs across the country to properly equip and train students on tool safety, maintenance, and real-world applications.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

Lexi: From automotive to aerospace, woodworking, welding, and more, Dynabrade has a place in most industries. Follow us on all social media platforms and tag Dynabrade when you use your Dynabrade tools!
