Industry Person of the Week- Lauren Heinz

Our Industry Person of the Week is Lauren Heinz. Lauren is a marketing Specialist at Tsurumi America, Inc.

Q: How did you get started working in your field?

Lauren: I started working in the field shortly after I met one of our managers during college. She came in to speak at a business organization and we instantly connected. At the time, I had no idea what pumps were. Many years later, I have found myself completely immersed in the world of pumps!

Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?

Lauren: I have been fortunate enough to travel to many different types of jobsites across the country, which has opened my eyes to how essential pumps really are. There were two notable jobsite visits that taught me much more than I could have learned without the hands on experience. One of those experiences was stepping foot on a large mining site and witnessing all the different processes within it, why each process is critical in achieving the end goal, and how fundamental pumps are within each of those processes. One of my other favorite jobsite visits was attending a private tour with a brewery owner to see how they pretreat their wastewater. With the regulations municipalities are placing on breweries, wineries, and food processing plants, it was really inspiring to see a brewery take it upon themselves to create a system to pretreat their own wastewater, and in turn reuse that treated water for other purposes. I am grateful for all the opportunities I have had to learn more about the industry, and in turn, share that knowledge with others.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?

Lauren: My advice to someone considering this field is to take the leap because it will completely change your perspective on life. Usually pumps are underground or behind the scenes, so most people don’t realize how much of an impact they have on our everyday lives. Working in this field, you can gain a deep understanding on how much of life’s processes rely on pumps. However, pumps are nothing without manufactures to create them, engineers to size them, sales team to support them, marketers to spread awareness, and so on. You will quickly realize that you play a role in one of life’s essential fields, and how could that not be rewarding?
