Our Industry Person of the Week is Kate Crespo, Hand Safety Program Manager at Superior Glove.
Q: How did you get started working in your field?
Kate: At a very young age I knew that I enjoyed helping people. When I looked at career choices, I knew that sales was the right position for me. Once I was introduced to the world of sales it was very clearly that I specifically wanted to work in safety so that I could expand on that desire to help others.
Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?
Kate: I love that I can make an impact in someone’s life on a daily basis. I can make that person safer and allow them to do their tasks more efficiently. Seeing someone smile while placing on a piece of PPE really makes my day.
Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?
Kate: Make sure that you 100% believe in the work that you are doing! This will transfer into your daily work ethic and if the people that you are working with can see this it makes it a win/win for all parties involved.
Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?
Kate: Recently, Superior Glove was working with a location that used rivet guns. Once we had spoken to the people that were performing the tasks we realized that they did not have the correct PPE on hand to protect their palms from the bucking bars and impact from the rivet guns.
We immediately took action and designed them a glove that they could place over their current gloves to not only provide the protection that they needed but to make sure that they were comfortable as well. The team was so excited that they referred us to two other sites.
