Industry Person of the Week- Herman Coello

Our Industry Person of the Week is Herman Coello, Siemens Industry.

Q: How did you get started working in your field?

Herman: Before my present role, I traveled extensively to various locations, conducting training sessions for our customers and end-users. This allowed me to gain exposure to diverse industry processes and witness our solutions in action. I thrived on encountering challenging situations that others found difficult to solve, making my progression to the role of a product manager a natural one.

Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?

Herman: There is immense satisfaction in providing help or solutions to those seeking expertise. At work, being part of a collaborative team is truly fulfilling. My colleagues are selfless individuals, eager to share best practices and open to discussions when testing new ideas. As a Product Manager for level instruments, I enjoy being the customer’s voice, bridging their needs to our factory to develop solutions that enhance efficiency, reliability, ease of use, and contribute to environmentally responsible goals customers may have. While it’s challenging to pinpoint what I am the most proud of, I see myself as a team player, always ready to lend a hand and make others’ lives easier with the knowledge accumulated over the years.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?

Herman: First and foremost, cultivate a genuine interest in people. Interaction with a diverse range of individuals is a blessing in this profession, each with unique needs. To be an asset, ensure a deep understanding of your field—learn everything there is to know and then some, simplifying complex concepts for others. Understand the industries you are dealing with and demonstrate how your solutions can benefit them.

Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?

Herman: Our factory has been gearing up for the release of an exceptional level and pump controller, surpassing all previous models. I played a key role in the core team validating this product in real applications within the water and wastewater industry. The recent product launch was gratifying, receiving positive feedback not only from internal teams but also from our representatives who have embraced it enthusiastically and are already introducing it to their customers.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

Herman: Working with an innovative company like Siemens ensures there’s never a dull moment. The constant drive for innovation creates a dynamic and engaging work environment.
