Our Industry Person of the Week is Gavin Hackett, President at H2flow Controls.
Q: How did you get started working in your field?
Gavin: I started working for H2flow Controls 18 years ago after leaving the U.S. Coast Guard. I accepted a job working in Production. That gave me the product knowledge I felt that I needed to make a move into sales. Since then, I’ve worked in Marketing, Operations, and now I’m the President of the company.
Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?
Gavin: I love that every day is a different challenge! Whether it’s helping a customer with an application question, supporting our sales reps with the tools they need, or brainstorming new ideas with our R&D team, I never know what each day will bring.
But I’m most proud of what we’re building at H2flow. We’ve experienced exponential year-on-year growth over each of the past few years. That’s due in large part to the team we’ve built at H2flow. I’m fortunate that I get to collaborate with some truly amazing people, and as a company, we have adopted a growth mindset. When an entire company fosters that kind of thought process, the sky is the limit.
Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?
Gavin: Find your niche and then find ways to set yourself apart from the masses. The more skills you can add to your repertoire, the more versatile you become and the more valuable you will be to an employer or prospective employer.
Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?
Gavin: A large municipality – one of the largest in the U.S. – has been purchasing our FaraMag FM750 mag meters for the past 18 months. However, they recently chose to standardize on FaraMag, making it the flow meter of choice for all of their future facility upgrades and renovations.
Q: Anything else you would like to add?
Gavin: Our company manufactures products that control, protect and measure machines and processes that are driven by electric motors. Our technologies include flow meters, power monitors, AC drives, soft starters, and more.
