Industry Person of the Week- Elisa Paul

Our Industry Person of the Week is Elisa Paul. Elisa is a Business Development Manager at WEG.

Q: How did you get started working in your field?

Elisa: I’ve always loved the STEM fields, always had a knack for the subjects; so I decided to study Mechanical Engineering in college. After graduating, I began working in the pump industry and realized how much more I could learn. Eventually I switched over to the motor industry and am happy to say that I still learn something new every day.

Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?

Elisa: I love the endless opportunities to learn and grow. The variety in each day brings a new challenge and a new puzzle to solve. I love being surrounded by countless talented and knowledgeable individuals, all who are willing to share their lessons learned, and guide me along my path. I’m proud of all of the effort I’ve put in up until this point, and the work ethic I’ve developed through the process. And I’m proud of the pride that my family has for me, as they’ve played a huge role in my story.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?

Elisa: First, just go for it! This line of work can be extremely rewarding. It may not be the most popular career path, but I can guarantee that it is a very worthwhile journey. You never know how great something could be until you give it a shot.

Second, don’t be afraid to not know the answers. This field is full of questions and unknowns, that’s honestly what makes it interesting. There will be plenty of people who know more about certain topics, and plenty who will know less. It’s completely okay to not know something and ask questions- that’s just another opportunity to learn.

Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?

Elisa: I’ve recently changed roles and am now working in business development. This role has allowed me to experience much more of the business implementation process and develop a better understanding of the big picture. Different customers bring new challenges to the table and I love being able to work with more of the puzzle pieces to help them create solutions.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

Elisa: Don’t forget to have fun with it! It’s crucial to keep a good balance between your professional and personal life; take care of yourself first so that you have the right mindset for success.
