Our Industry Person of the Week is Ashutosh Mishra, a KSB Team Leader.
Q: How did you get started working in your field?
Ashutosh: Firstly, I was selected by KSB India as a trainee engineer, later I was put in the energy division to continue as an application engineer and project management for high-pressure pumps. From there, I came in contact with EPCs companies and their projects, which increased my interest to work in the field of applications, detail engineering, trouble-shootings, quality, inspection, and performance testing. After working for KSB India for three years, I did not look back. I continued learning and working.
Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?
Ashutosh: Working for various types of machines, learning mechanical, electrical, process, instruments & controlling. It makes me more interested because of management, meeting with the customers, vendor management, and training team members.
Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?
Ashutosh: Keep focused on a wide range of learning, and be optimistic instead of thinking of the future of your career. The pump is the heart of any process and power plants, it has a future with a vast range of applications. Always, find a mentor at your workplace and believe in them, learn from them and apply yourself at work.
Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?
Ashutosh: My recent project is on BB3 type high-pressure pump with the double mechanical seal, plan-52, and medium voltage motor. One project is for the supply of VS4 type pump with the double mechanical seal, plan-52, and motors for explosion classification. Both projects belong to the country‘s Government owned petrochemical plants.
Q: Anything else you would like to add?
Ashutosh: Thanks to Empowering Pumps team for making us aware of pumps, technology, learnings, and market development.
