This week’s Industry Person of the Week is Amanda Hunter, a Senior Service Solutions Consultant at GRUNDFOS.
Q: How did you get started working in your field?
Amanda: I had a nontraditional introduction to the world of manufacturing and pumps- after finishing my MPH degree, I worked for a while in the healthcare space. I had a growing interest in sustainability and decided to follow my passions. Realizing the environmental impact that manufacturing has, I sought a position like the one I have today, where I am able to improve sustainability and reduce the industry’s footprint.
Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?
Amanda: I love getting to see how things are made. Before entering the industry, it was rare that I would think about where products I used every day came from. By working in the pump world, I have the insight into the processes of their creation. I am most proud of the fact that I get to connect with such a diverse group of people.
Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?
Amanda: Coming into this field, is like trying to take a drink from a firehose. There is so much to know, you cannot possible catch it all. Learn from those around you and just stay curious!
Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?
Amanda: I am currently representing a product that helps to better plan maintenance activities and increase plant reliability. It is rewarding to get to relieve some burnout among technicians by helping to better manage their workload.
Q: Anything Else you would like to add?
Amanda: Every day is something new, and I love the opportunity to learn from my colleagues!
