Industry People of the Week- Alireza Zandi Karimi & Samantha Harrison

This week we are doing something new – featuring a duo who work with each other at Triangle Fluid Controls in Belleville, Ontario. Alireza Zandi Karimi and Samantha Harrison both bring a lot of talent and new ideas to the TFC team and we’re excited to put a spotlight on the two of them.

Q: How did you get started working in your field?

Alireza: Even though I have some engineering background, I am considered a newcomer in this industry as I started this journey about 6 months ago.

Samantha: I started working in 2019 as a Lab testing Technician/QA Assistant and quickly developed a passion for gaskets and spent much time learning as much as I can about them. I have since been promoted to QA/Applications specialist; a hybrid role that allows me to answer technical questions and ensure that our products meet quality standards.

Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?

Alireza: This position required me to wear multiple hats which I really enjoy because it exposes me to areas and situations, I’ve never been exposed to before; from manufacturing, quality and R&D challenges to customer relations and technical support. Everyday there is a new challenge so there is something new to learn which creates a great driving force in me to move forward. I am proud of being part of a creative and energetic team that is open to my ideas and feedback.

Samantha: What I love most about my job is being able to help people with their questions. Even when I don’t have all the answers I can research and determine exactly what they need. I am most proud of learning so much about this industry which has led to expanding my role.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?

Alireza: Don’t panic! As long as you are part of a good team, you’ll be alright.

Samantha: Don’t ever be afraid to ask questions. This is such a cool industry; it allows you to see and learn about different sealing processes around the world.

Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?

Alireza: We recently had a quality issue with our filled PTFE gaskets and my materials engineering background helped us with heading in the right direction and eventually resolving the issue.

Samantha: Due to all the changes going on in the world right now, training has become virtual. By adapting to the new virtual training experience, we have been able to reach companies across the world who may have been inaccessible previously. The feedback from these virtual sessions has always been a positive experience for both me and the trainees.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

Alireza: It’s nice to be featured! Thank you.

Samantha: Don’t be afraid to try something new. Before working at Triangle Fluid Controls, I never saw myself writing blogs or being on YouTube in our SEALutions videos. Not only are these videos fun… they help viewers learn technical information about gaskets. Look for more blogs and videos coming soon!
