Overview
The lift station of St Romain en Giers is operated by the French Water Company Lyonnaise des Eaux. This is the deepest lift station in France, at 28ft deep. This lift station was installed with an OverWatch™ Direct In-Line Packaged Lift Station (PLS) System, which is a turnkey ready, stainless steel pumping system. The PLS eliminates the hazards associated with traditional wet wells: cloggedpumps, odor emissions, and dangerous gases and entry.
There is no wet well; the duplex pumping system and valving is contained in the prefabricated lift station. The PLS is equipped with a OW61R-2VV-15Hp OverWatch™ Direct In-Line Pump System designed for a flow of 176gpm and 70ft of head. This system has allowed wastewater to pass under the highway A47 and Giers River in France since 2014.
The technical manager Frédéric Delegue testifies that the operation of this pumping station is very easy and economical. There is no more screening, cleaning, or improper failures. There is also minimal on-site intervention of the operations. The OverWatch™ PLS Systems’ frequency converters allow for energy savings as well.
Eliminating the wet well to maximize safety; minimize maintenance
The OverWatch™ Direct In-line Pumping Technology creates an environment that eliminates wet well maintenance, exposure to dangerous gases and hazards associates with retained effluent, while saving 30% on energy costs and 65% total savings over the life of the pump. Lifting liquid as it arrives removes the opportunity for whip, fats, oils or greases to build up and solidify. The VFD controlled pump allow the system to adjust it’s performance real-time; reversing operation to remove clogs.
