Hydraulic Institute Offers Webinar on Effective Pump Intake Design

The Hydraulic Institute will be offering a 4 part webinar series on Effective Pump Intake Design and Troubleshooting Problem Intakes. The first session will be launching Thursday March 3rd.
This webinar series is based off of the Hydraulic Institute’s Intake Design for Rotodynamic Pumps (ANSI/HI 9.8-2012) and will visually aid the standard’s overview of design objectives, required inlet bell design diameter, submergence requirements, using the standard for proper instructions on intake structures for clear liquids and solids-handling pumps, highlights of key technologies used when designing the pump intake including physical and computation fluid dynamics (CFD). Key learning objectives to take away from this webinar series are to identify issues and considerations when designing a pump intake, highlight tools that are available to the engineer, and how to use the standard effectively and comply with the industry regulations. Design engineers, research laboratory specialists, engineering contractors, consulting engineers, trainers, maintenance staff, and end user operators will benefit from the information provided in this webinar series.
The series will cover the following topics:

·         Session 1: Intake Background, History, and Design Objectives
Date and Time: March 3, 20161:00-2:00pm ET
Instructor(s):
Andy Johansson, Director of Hydraulic Modeling, Alden Research Laboratory, Inc. and Kara Hurtig, Water Resources Engineer, Northwest Hydraulic Consultants, Inc.

·         Section 2: Intakes for Clear Liquids
Date and Time:
March 10, 20161:00-2:00pm ET
Instructor:
Dave Werth, President, Prinicpal, Clemson Engineering Hydraulics, LLC

·         Section 3: Intakes of Solids-Bearing Liquids
Date and Time: March 17, 20161:00-2:00pm ET
Instructor:
Arnie Sdano, Chief Engineer, Pentair – Fairbanks Nijhuis

·         Section 4: CFD Modeling and Physical Modeling
Date and Time:
March 24, 20161:00-2:00pm ET
Instructor(s): Joseph Orlins, Director of Hydraulic Modeling & Consulting

Registration to this webinar is $399.00 and includes a secure, downloadable PDF copy of Hydraulic Institute’s Intake Design for Rotodynamic Pumps (ANSI/HI 9.8-2012).  All registered attendees will earn up to 4 PDH credits upon completion of the course.
