The Hydraulic Institute named Aleks Roudnev, Manager of Research and Design – Applied Hydraulics, Weir Minerals North America as its 2014 “Member of the Year”. The award was conferred to Mr. Roudnev at the Hydraulic Institute’s 2015 annual meeting held recently in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The HI Board of Directors selected Mr. Roudnev for his superior commitment to the Hydraulic Institute in both leading and actively participating in numerous HI committees in the advancement of the Institute’s technical work as well as in guiding young engineers within the Institute’s extensive technical organization.
As an active member of HI since 1995, his recent contributions include serving as Chair of the HI Standards Committee, the Slurry Pumps Committee, and he serves as Vice Chair of the HI General Guidelines Committee. Aleks Roudnev has distinguished himself for the level and extent of his involvement thus advancing the technical work of the Hydraulic Institute on many levels. As expressed by many HI members, his wisdom is appreciated by the committees which benefit from his participation. Further, he has provided support to develop and enhance the language used in standards and guidelines, and he has been instrumental in improving the clarity and precision which is necessary for ANSI/HI standards.
“As an active member of HI for nearly twenty years, Aleks has been actively involved in the different committees that support the future development of standards for the pump system industry as well as mentoring young engineers within the Institute,” notes Robert Asdal, Executive Director, Hydraulic Institute, “His ongoing participation and leadership exemplifies the qualities that distinguish an HI Member of the Year.”
In addition to his work at HI, Mr. Roudnev is presently serving as Manager of Research and Design – Applied Hydraulics with Weir Minerals North America, significantly contributing to the company’s success as a leading manufacturer of engineered slurry pumps and mine dewatering equipment.
