Hydra-Cell / Wanner Engineering Replaces Gear Pumps for Low-flow Food Processing

A packaging company specializing in producing polyamide sausage casings, high-barrier films, bags, and other food packaging used small gear pumps to spray water through nozzles to lubricate sausage casings. The gear pumps were unable to maintain the low, consistent flow rate required.

Hydra-Cell® Replaces Gear Pumps for Low-flow Food Processing

Pump Model: G03XKBTHFECA
Flow Rate: 0.26 to 1.05 gph (1 to 4 lph)
Pressure: 14.5 to 29 psi (1 to 2 bar)
Application: Spraying water to lubricate
sausage casings

A Hydra-Cell D03/G03 was tested for three months in the production process and exceeded expectations. Since its flow rate is proportional to the pump speed, the D03/G03 maintained the required low and constant flow within ±0.25% of the specified flow rate. In addition, with its sealless design, Hydra-Cell can pump high-to-low viscosity fluids, including a non-lubricating liquid such as water.

As a result, the company ordered six additional D03/G03 pumps to replace existing pumps used in similar applications.
