For use in concentrated solar power plants

Flowserve Corporation (NYSE: FLS), a leading provider of flow control products and services for the global infrastructure markets, announced the Valtek® TX3 Molten Salt triple-offset butterfly valve.

Flowserve designed the Valtek TX3 Molten Salt triple-offset butterfly valve to provide concentrated solar power (CSP) plant operators with reliable performance, tight shut-off and minimized maintenance in molten salt applications.

Eliminating leakage in the demanding conditions required for thermal energy storage for industrial processes is a top priority. The design and construction of TX3 Molten Salt valve can withstand temperatures ranging from 260ºC to 600ºC (500 ºF to 1,112 ºF) with standard live-loaded hybrid or Thermiculite® packing. It maintains the packing load for constant external sealing during thermal cycling.

The TX3 Molten Salt valve has been designed and tested to ensure reliable performance throughout the CSP plant’s operational lifecycle. It has superior leakage resistance, with a shut-off design and construction that reliably complies with FCI 70-2 Class V for control valve applications and API 598 for On-Off applications. The valve stem and packing region are designed to provide a comprehensive solution for packing/heat tracing, including integrated heating, controls and sensors to ensure constant temperature.
