This course provides the student with a thorough understanding of centrifugal pump design, function and operation. Common process control and performance measurement methods are reviewed, and the necessary calculations associated with pumping systems are executed and explained.
Centrifugal pump issues are discussed in the classroom and then reinforced in the laboratories using actual pumps equipped with instruments that indicate flow, pressure and power consumption as the pumps are operated by the students themselves. 65% classroom, 35% laboratory.
Specific topics include:
Engineers; rotating equipment specialists; individuals involved in pump sales and service, and experienced plant maintenance and operational personnel that have a desire to improve their understanding of centrifugal pumps and their proper operation.
