Applied Flow Technology’s support group is comprised of a team of highly-trained engineers who are experts in all AFT products. In this third part of our 4-part series, we want to shine a light on Walt Prentice, a Chemical Engineering graduate from the Colorado School of Mines who minored in economics. Here is what she had to share!

“What I love most about my job is the people. I enjoy talking to our customers about finding the right products for their needs. I also enjoy my coworkers. AFT is a great place to work!

I remember this one time when I helped an AFT channel partner in Egypt with using AFT Arrow for a steam blowing system. “Steam blowing” is a fancy term for cleaning out piping systems. This is done at start-up of a new system, or done as periodic maintenance. Through doing research on those kinds of systems, we were able to show the end-customer the capabilities of AFT Arrow to meet his needs.”

The role of the AFT Support Team goes beyond technical calls with customers. Each of these engineers play an active role in the development and maintenance of AFT software products.

“Making changes and making mistakes is a big part of modeling,” shares Walt. “I am most excited about our multi-level undo feature. Finally! (::chuckles::)”

“We used to only handle 1 level of undoing…but the new release in 2020 will be improved! Notes can now be added onto the cells in the model output. This makes life much more organized when you have so much data to go through. You can see your previous thoughts on the analysis, so you don’t waste time trying to figure it out again. Double-clicking on a junction icon now allows you to add multiple placements of the same junction. This makes modeling much faster! You used to have to go back to the selection 1 by 1, even if it was the same junction.”
