As of January 2021, DSI/Dynamatic® is introducing an Educational Series on YouTube. The series will include a new video each month related to the use of eddy current drives, brakes, clutches, and controls in municipal markets. The series, led by DSI/Dynamatic employees and their manufacturer’s representatives, will focus on topics related to maintenance, retrofitting, and the product longevity of Dynamatic, among other things.
The series, a brainchild of Marketing Manager Rebecca Hart, helps provide an education not only about the Dynamatic brand but also eddy current technology itself. It’s part of the DSI/Dynamatic marketing plan to be more proactive in the industry.
“Our goals for 2021 include more brand awareness and education,” Hart said. “Because our products can run 50-60 years without as much as a repair, many times the brand goes unnoticed and its attributes are taken for granted. Those that knew us when the product was originally installed were usually long gone from the company when the product needed repair or replacement. We’re taking a more proactive approach with our brand and making Dynamatic a bigger household name. Part of that includes creating more videos to help people understand who we are and what we do.”
The first video in the series, “Retrofitting a Motor Pump With an ECD” is led by DSI/Dynamatic Sales Engineer Jennifer Ludlum and Manufacturer’s Rep Michael Cogan of Quality Controls. They discuss how retrofitting an existing motor with an eddy current drive worked well for a customer. Find the video here: https://youtu.be/vNmBNzwU9GQ

Eddy Current in Water and Wastewater
For decades, Dynamatic eddy current technology has been a preferred choice in the water and wastewater industries, but it hasn’t come without challenges. Municipal Market Manager Gary Patterson discusses it with Eric Schiebold from Environmental Sales. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHtdxxFHtAw&feature=youtu.be
Advantage of Eddy Current at Start Up
Eddy current technology is advantageous in pumping applications. Dynamatic’s device calls for power as needed, so they can start a system with a motor without any other engagement of the load. Slowly, eddy current technology introduces torque to the system. Learn about it in detail in this video about eddy current advantages in pumping applications.
