Danfoss starts production of the latest generation of iSave® energy recovery devices

Danfoss High Pressure Pumps announces that the latest generation of its highly efficient iSave® energy recovery devices is now in production. The first iSave 50 and iSave 70 ERDs, the company’s highest-capacity to date, have already been delivered, and Danfoss anticipates strong demand from the growing market for mid-size SWRO plants.

Danfoss iSave Danfoss High Pressure Pumps, an international leader in pumps and energy recovery devices (ERD) for the SWRO and technical water industries, has now begun production of its iSave 50 and iSave 70 ERDs. The latest additions to the Danfoss range boost ERD capacity by 75%, so that its highest-capacity model now handles flow rates of up to 70m3 per hour.

The new iSaves have an efficiency rate of up to 92%, making them the best ERDs in their class at saving energy. Just like other iSave ERDs, the new models integrate a highly efficient isobaric pressure exchanger, high-pressure booster pump and motor all in one compact design. They are thus ideal for plants where space is at a premium, and the first orders are in fact for installation in cruise ships and containerized systems.

“The new generation of iSave ERDs builds on the same design principles as the rest of our range,” explains Jesper Bentzen, Global Sales Director at Danfoss. “Their reduced footprint and complexity make them easy to install and simple to operate. And their energy efficiency is second to none in their class.”

Jesper Bentzen expects the new ERDs to be particularly relevant for the fast-growing mid-size SWRO segment. “We have already had great interest from customers designing skids that produce up to 30,000 CMD,” he says. “At volumes like this, operators quickly see the results of dramatically reduced energy costs on their bottom line.”

The Danfoss range of iSave ERDs now covers flow rates of 7 – 70 m3 per hour.
