Danfoss Appoints New Director of Public Affairs

Danfoss, a leading manufacturer of high-efficiency electronic and mechanical components and controls for air-conditioning, heating, refrigeration, industrial, and water systems, today announced the appointment of Mark Menzer as Director of Public Affairs in North America.

In this role, Menzer will work to support Danfoss – as well as the industry – by engaging with policymakers and regulators on key issues like energy efficiency, refrigerant policy, and electric motors and variable frequency drives in the HVACR, water, and industry sectors. By establishing and propagating relationships with members of the U.S. Congress, Administration, Department of Energy, and Environmental Protection Agency, as well as leading industry, electric utility, and energy/environmental advocacy organizations, he will help to inform and advocate measures that have vital implications for the future of Danfoss, its customers, and the industry.

With more than 30 years of experience, Menzer has extensive knowledge of HVACR systems, refrigerants, and refrigerant policy. Prior to joining Danfoss, he was Regional Vice President, Association Affairs and Program Development, for Intertek Laboratories, a quality solutions provider for industries worldwide. He also has worked with the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) in various roles, including Executive Vice President, and the American Gas Association.

Menzer is the recipient of an Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) Leadership Award, and U.S. National Committee of the International Institute of Refrigeration Pentzer Award. His industry affiliations include the International Congress of Refrigeration, the International Institute of Refrigeration, Purdue University Compressor Conference, and ASHRAE, in which he has been a long-standing member.

Menzer succeeds Robert Wilkins, who is preparing to retire after 22 years at Danfoss that included roles as Vice President Public Affairs and President of Danfoss North America. During his time at Danfoss, Wilkins has been an active voice throughout industry and advocacy organizations. He has served on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of AHRI since 1998, for which he served as Chairman in 2007. He now chairs the AHRI committee on smart/connected equipment, is Chairman of the Alliance for Responsible Atmospheric Policy, and serves on the Policy and Programs Committee for the Alliance to Save Energy.

“We are excited to welcome Mark to Danfoss. He has a tremendous amount of experience and expertise that we believe will benefit Danfoss and our industry partners,” said John Galyen, president, Danfoss North America. “We thank Robert for his leadership and outstanding contributions over the years. He will be greatly missed, but he has left us a solid foundation and well-established position among influential trade associations, regulatory agencies, and advocacy groups.”
