ClydeUnion Pumps, an SPX Brand, received an order for four submersible motor driven seawater lift pumps for a North Sea floating, production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO). The contract was awarded to ClydeUnion Pumps by China’s COSCO (Nantong) Shipyard Co., Ltd in May 2013.
The contract includes two low voltage and two high voltage CUP-VSM submersible motor driven seawater lift pumps in super duplex stainless steel. The CUP-VSM pumps will be manufactured at SPX’s facility in Glasgow, Scotland with delivery scheduled in February 2014.
ClydeUnion Pumps has worked closely with COSCO from the design stage with full support to both their commercial and technical teams helping to secure the order. COSCO is currently developing its own technologies to increase its presence in the deep-sea oil extraction and production market. This is COSCO’s first order for an FPSO development and also the first FPSO order for a Chinese EPC contractor.
“This recent contract award for ClydeUnion Pumps paves the way for future success in the Chinese FPSO market for our seawater lift pumps” ,said Richard Zhou, Sales Manager Eastern China. “We will continue to ensure the highest level of support throughout the duration of the contract with COSCO.”
