Hydraulic Designs of Multistage Pumps (Part 2)– Bowl Diffuser Optimization

By: CFturbo

The new, streamlined workflow for Turbomachinery design, meshing, simulation, design exploration, and optimization using a bi-directional integration of CFturbo into ANSYS Workbench is applied for a diffuser optimization for a three-stage vertical turbine pump. The optimization is based on an initial hydraulic design made with CFturbo.

In this one-hour webinar, Sascha Henoch and Ralph Peter Mueller from CFturbo, Inc. will present the bowl diffuser optimization for a multistage centrifugal pump. Two different design exploration techniques and optimization workflows will be demonstrated, including model set-up and CFD-simulation results. In a following webinar, which is supposed to be available in February 2022 the authors will show the results of a multi-objective optimization to improve the NPSHR of the entry-stage impeller.
