Our Industry Person of the Week is Ana Maria Delgado, Certified Reliability Leader and Marketing Manager for LUDECA. Here is what she had to share!
Q. How did you get started working in your field?
Ana Maria: I was hired as a temp by LUDECA to design and lay out their first book about laser shaft alignment, a project that opened the door to a full time position in the company. It was my first encounter with precision maintenance, which at the time was a subject completely foreign to me. The founders of the company, Heinz Luedeking and Dieter Seidenthal, mentored me to develop my work ethic, my technical knowledge and understanding of the many applications and benefits that our measurement technologies bring to our industry.
Q. What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?
Ana Maria: I love to collaborate with my technical team to write blogs, develop educational videos and procedures in the form of Infographic posters to help disseminate best practices and communicate the benefits of precision alignment, precision balancing, ultrasound testing, induction heating and vibration analysis. All these are keystone activities to improve asset reliability and safety. A few years ago, I defined and declared my role in Reliability Culture Change to be: Learn, Create, Communicate and Lead by Example. That’s what I have committed to do in my role as Marketing Director of LUDECA and as a Certified Reliability Leader (CRL).
I am most proud of having found the balance between being a successful working mom of two beautiful kids while still enjoying and growing as an industrial marketing professional.
Q. What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?
Ana Maria: Be curious about the Maintenance & Reliability industry. Read books and articles. Proactively attend conferences. Embrace safety and reliability!
Q. Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?
Ana Maria: Not really a project per se, but this year I have really enjoyed being a volunteer for the Society of Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) to support their mission of Reliability Excellence. I helped SMRP with the review and scoring of abstracts and presentations and moderated sessions at their symposium in Phoenix, AZ, as well as later at their annual conference in Louisville, KY.
Q. Anything else you would like to add?
Ana Maria: I would like to invite the Empowering Pumps & Equipment Community to read my latest article “Heaven can wait! Safety first. Always lock-out and tag-out your machines.”
Thank you, Ana Maria, for your contributions to the Industry and continued support in the areas of Maintenance & Reliability! We look forward to keeping up with you through the #PumpTalk Community!
