ABB’s new Add-On Instructions emulate existing drive applications

By: ABB

AOI 2.0 expands ABB’s Add-On Instruction set to further streamline conversion from Rockwell Automation drives to ABB drives.

ABB’s Add-On Instructions (AOI) 2.0 provide the ability to easily convert Rockwell Automation PF520 and PF750 drives to ABB drives by inserting the AOI into existing control code and creating and replacing existing tags. Pre-defined tag descriptions in the AOI mimic existing tag descriptions, eliminating the need to re-write PLC code. The modularity of the AOI code makes it extremely easy to convert multiple drives quickly, allowing operators to enjoy the reliability, flexibility and versatility of ABB drives while connected to EtherNet/IP.

Additional AOIs used for replacing other Rockwell Automation drives will be available in the future. ABB’s AOI 1.0, which is used for new drive applications where no existing drive is being replaced, has been available since 2010.
