A.O. Smith hermetic motors joins Genteq brand

As a result of Regal Beloit’s acquisition of A.O. Smith EPC (EPC) last summer, EPC’s hermetic motor business will share Regal Beloit’s Genteq brand. This transition will occur over the coming months; the A.O. Smith name may be used through August 2012, in accordance with conditions of the acquisition.

The hermetic motor business supplies product to similar markets as the current Genteq business. The decision to use the Genteq brand, which provides high-end motors and capacitors to OEMs, was the most logical, said Dan Drexler, vice president and business leader of the global hermetic team.

“The Genteq brand embodies the technology leadership, reliability, quality and integrity that A.O. Smith is known for,” he said. “The hermetic motor business, which serves compressor manufacturers for air conditioning and refrigeration applications, is happy to be a part of Genteq; we think it’s a good fit that will be nearly seamless for our customers.”

“Our position as a global technology leader is a direct parallel with Genteq’s positioning,” added Drexler. “This is the best possible news for our customers, who have come to expect the highest quality from A.O. Smith hermetic motors.”

Genteq is a division of Regal Beloit (NYSE:RBC), a leading manufacturer of mechanical and electrical motion control and power generation products serving markets throughout the world. Regal Beloit is headquartered in Beloit, Wis., and has manufacturing, sales, and service facilities throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia.
