2025 Marketing Playbook: Top Tips for Manufacturers

It’s that time of year again where we’re planning and strategizing for the year to come. It feels tricky as the marketing technology landscape is ever evolving and as it continues to be incredibly important to reach our target audiences online. From what our team has learned this past year, here are my five tips to stay competitive in 2025!

1. AI & Machine Learning – it’s here and we need to embrace it.

AI and ML aren’t just buzzwords anymore; they’re the ultimate power duo for smarter, faster marketing. As these technologies continue to evolve, we should be learning about all of the ways it can help us streamline our processes, help us create more effective messages, and even complete routine tasks to save us time. If you’re not tapping into this tech yet, now is the time to start.

2. Buyer Habits are Changing – so we need to, as well.

Regardless on if you sell your products via eCommerce or through distributors, buyers are wanting to have more autonomy in how they interact with manufacturers and make purchasing decisions. They want access to information (detailed product specifications, pricing transparency, comparison tools), streamlined communication (resources that make it easier to research and validate their needs independently), and self-service tools (CAD drawings to configurators). When buyers feel empowered to research, configure, and decide on their own, they are more likely to trust and choose your products over competitors.

3. Social Media is King – and it’s critical for businesses to be utilizing.

Here’s a fun fact: younger buyers are doing their homework on social media—and they’re listening to influencers more than ever. That means if you’re not in the mix, you’re missing out. Build relationships with industry influencers, create share-worthy content, and stay active on platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, or even TikTok. It’s where decisions are being made, so it’s where you need to be.

4. Data Is the New Gold – start collecting it, now.

With privacy changes making third-party cookies a thing of the past, first-party data is your best friend. Whether it’s through email sign-ups, surveys, or purchase history, this info is key to understanding your audience and delivering exactly what they need, at the right time. Back my first tip on AI and ML, predictive analytics are where it’s at.

5. Sustainability Sells – and shows people who you are.

Customers care about more than just your product, they care about what you stand for. Especially amongst the younger generations, sustainability and social responsibility are non-negotiables. If you’re cutting down on waste, using eco-friendly materials, or giving back to your community, people want to know about it. A warning though…authenticity is key here. Buyers can spot greenwashing a mile away. Be real, be transparent, and show them you care.

The bottom line? 2025 is all about smarter tech, better experiences, and showing the world, you stand for something bigger. Whether you’re streamlining operations with AI or winning hearts on social media with your sustainability story, there tons of opportunities to make an impact.
