Meet a Woman Engineer: Carina Hart

JKMuir, a successful women-owned and operated engineering and energy consulting firm, is celebrating Engineers Week by allowing Empowering Pumps to highlight their most talented engineering professionals. We had the great honor of talking with several members of the JKMuir team, including Carina Hart, Senior Project Engineer with JKMuir since 2014. This is what she had to share:

Q. How did you decide to become an engineer? What inspired you?

Carina: I decided to become an engineer because my father taught engineering at a local institute. I grew up building things with my father; around the house and on our property. Like many engineers, my father wished his kids would also have a career in engineering.  He frequently tells me how proud he is of me. His example as an engineer paved the way for me to become an engineer.

Q. What do you love most about being an engineer?

Carina: I like to solve problems that are supported by numbers. This establishes a quantifiable benefit to the proposed project and a measurable indicator of improvement.  For me, the most exciting moment is when you solve the problem, high-five your teammates and come up with a plan on how to explain your solution to your clients.

Q. What advice would you give to the next generation of engineers?

Carina: Keep going. Sometimes the road can be tough, but don’t give up. Things will get better, and you will be a stronger person because of it.

On behalf of the entire Empowering Brands’ team, THANK YOU for your contributions to the Pump Industry! We look forward to keeping in touch with you over the course of your career!

Meet the other Engineers at JKMuir!
