SUMMARY:Leading Reliability
DESCRIPTION:Join us at The Institute at Patriots Point for this unique event of education and applied learning with some of the top leaders in the industry for reliability\, preventative\, and predictive maintenance strategies. The afternoon sessions will provide application of the knowledge with simulations and “time on the tools”. You will leave this session with reinforcing e-learning that you can take back and share with others in your organization. As a bonus\, we are providing a leadership experience with a chance to fly the F-35 flight simulators. This is one-of-a kind learning event. \nLocation: USS Yorktown Charleston Mount Pleasant\, SC \nDate: Thursday\, June 6th\, 2019 (8am-4pm) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChris Tindell\, CMRP  Regional Business Manager \nSEPCO Morning Session with Chris Tindell: \n\n\n\n\nBearing isolators can prevent oil changes\, contaminant wear\, and extend bearing life. \nRotating equipment is the heart of industry\, and centrifugal pumps are second only to the electric motor in the industrial equipment population. Lubricating oil is the lifeblood of rotating equipment. When lubricants fail\, machines breakdown and production stops. Research shows that oil contamination is the leading cause of bearing failure. \nUltimately\, identifying and addressing the underlying causes of lubricant contamination improves system reliability and extends pump life. Ensuring the reliability of a simple oil seal directly impacts overall bearing and pump reliability. Improving the abilities of the oil seal\, perhaps replacing it with an effective\, non-contact bearing isolator capable of expelling contaminants may provide maintenance-free lubrication reliability. \nAfternoon application session: \nDuring this session you will learn the major sources of bearing failure and how to mitigate them. Understand how improved component selection in the lubrication system can mitigate early failure of pump system components. As well as\, gain tips for ensuring lubrication reliability with bearing isolators. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLudeca morning session with Adam Stredel: \nIncrease Bearing Life Through Proper Storage and Installation \nAdam Stredel\, CRL Applications Engineer \nThere are many causes for bearing failures. In this workshop\, we will discuss three: storage\, bearing installation and machine installation. Learn about the common mistakes we make in the bearing storage room. Do away with sheer force or excessive heat and other poor practices in bearing installation by learning how to use induction heating correctly to safely heat\, demagnetize and shrink-fit bearings. Also\, explore how to best use laser alignment tools to measure baseplates and detect soft foot problems to reduce bearing load and premature wear. \nAfternoon application session: \nWorkshop will include hands-on sessions on flatness measurements with laser systems plus alignment and soft foot checks on training simulators. In addition\, we will review bearing removal and mounting with induction heating on a simulator. Activities will be complemented with step-by-step procedures to perform these tasks correctly. \n\n\n\nEruditio morning session with Shon Isenhour:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShon Isenhour\, CMRP\, CAMA\, CCMP Partner at Eruditio LLC \nIn manufacturing\, a good plan is critical. To really drive precision maintenance and reliability we need job plans that include the safety and reliability factors that are commonly missed. This needs to include how and to what standard each of these factors should be addressed. This can be a tough job but we will show you an easier way. During this session we will look at a tool and process for effectively planning the replacement of bearings and seals or any parts on your equipment. We will also discuss problem solving why they failed in the first place using the Transitional tools of Root Cause Analysis. \nAfternoon application session:  \nDuring the afternoon session we will talk about current problems you’re facing in your facilities and how you can apply what we’ve talked about today in your facility tomorrow! \nThe After Event 4-6PM \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe first 20 attendees to sign up and commit are invited to join us for the afterhours session from 4PM until 6PM. We will be in the USS Yorktown F-35 flight simulators. Here we will talk about mission (project) planning\, communication and risk\, and high speed execution\, while doing barrel rolls\, launching missiles\, and destroying targets (competitors) in this one of a kind facility that is only available though Eruditio and The Institute at Patriots Point. \nTo register for this event\, please fill out the form below and one of our representatives will be in touch with you with more specifics as we get closer to the event!

SUMMARY:Increase The Reliability Of Your Critical Oil Pipeline – Discover An Innovative Retrofit Sealing Solution
DESCRIPTION:Speakers: \n\nJohn Morton\, Product Line Director\nRaul Escontrias\, North America Pipeline Account Manager\nJim Wasser\, Director\, Design Engineering\nBrian Kalfrin\, Regional Engineering Manager\nKevin Parker\, Moderator\, CFE Media & Technology\n\nAttendees qualify for a Certificate of Completion \nCrude-oil pipeline pumps traditionally suffer from seal leakage due to the fretting or wearing of the dynamic O-ring\, rather than wear to the dynamic seal faces. Surveys and root-cause analyses performed on equipment demonstrate that solids and debris contained in the pumped product cause secondary seal damage\, and ultimately\, seal failure. \nMoreover\, pumping stations that serve transmission and gathering pipelines are often remote and unmanned. Use of a reliable secondary seal increases both pump and pipeline reliability. \nA more robust\, non-dynamic secondary seal has been developed to eliminate these kinds of damages and failures. It cannot hang up\, nor wear the shaft or secondary sleeve. In addition\, reduced sleeve fretting maintains seal integrity\, delivering improved spill prevention\, and is valuable to operators in terms both of assets protected as well as critical asset expansion. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nIdentify the common causes of mechanical seal (pump) failure in crude oil pipelines\nQuantify the immediate and longer term costs and implication of seal failure\nUnderstand the technical solution to overcome most common pipeline seal failures and extend MTBR\nDiscover the relative simplicity of seal retrofit and estimated payback period.\n\nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Pump And Mechanical Seal Reliability
DESCRIPTION:This course provides the participant a better understanding of the reliability issues related to the interrelated functions of the centrifugal pump and mechanical seal\, as they are operated in a complex pumping system under a variety of conditions. Participants learn how to identify and address causes of poor pump and mechanical seal reliability by focusing on mechanical and operational issues that can negatively affect pump and seal performance. \nBasic pump and mechanical seal issues are discussed in the classroom\, and then reinforced in the laboratories using actual pumps equipped with instruments to indicate flow\, pressure\, temperature\, and power consumption. The pumps are operated by the students themselves. 60% classroom\, 40% labs. \nSpecific topics include: \n\nReview of centrifugal pump basics\nPump operating conditions that affect both pump and seal reliably\nMechanical issues that affect pump and seal reliability\nTroubleshooting centrifugal pump failures\nThe effects of the various types of cavitation in a mechanically sealed pump.\nThe importance of proper clearances in a centrifugal pump.\nReview of mechanical seal basics\nMechanical seal installation\, commissioning and operation\nDetailed steps to mechanical seal troubleshooting\nSeal failure case studies\n\n\nAUDIENCE \nThis course builds upon level 1 pump and mechanical seal courses. Experienced operations and maintenance personnel and engineers with at least 1 or more years of field experience are preferred.
