SUMMARY:Valve Industry Knowledge Forum
DESCRIPTION:About the Program \nThe new Valve Industry Knowledge Forum combines the best of three different VMA meetings to create one education-packed event with three distinct educational tracks. CLICK ON THE LINKS for more detailed information on the educational tracks. \n\nTECHNICAL EDUCATIONAL TRACK – Subject matter specifically targeted to experienced technical and engineering personnel working with valves and related products.\nMANUFACTURING EDUCATIONAL TRACK  – Developed for those who work or supervise the production and assembly process in their companies.\nMARKETING & MANAGEMENT EDUCATIONAL TRACK – Developed for professionals new to the industry as well as those in management and marketing roles who wish to understand the various components needed to operate a successful valve business.\n\nWho Should Attend? \nEnd users\, engineering and consulting firm personnel\, distributors\, various personnel within manufacturing and supplier firms\, and other related industry groups and professionals. Attendance is open to both industry members and non-members. \nWho Should Exhibit? \nCompanies that sell or provide service to valve manufacturers and end users. You do not have to be a member of VMA to exhibit. \nProfessional Development Hours \nAttendees to the 2019 VMA Valve Industry Knowledge Forum will receive a certificate for twelve (12) Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for attending the Knowledge Forum. Additional hours will be given to those who attend the pre-conference workshop. \nRegistration Information – EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT EXTENDED UNTIL FEB 28 \nATTENDEE EARLY-BIRD REGISTRATION THROUGH FEB. 28. Registration fees for VMA/VRC members will be $600 (early bird)\, $650 after Feb. 28. Non-member registrations fees will be $650 (early-bird) and $700 after Feb. 28.

SUMMARY:Engineered Overhung Pump Repair (formerly SSPR)
DESCRIPTION:A Basics Level course for maintenance staff. This course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate failure modes and repair API 610 overhung process pumps. The course is comprised of approximately 40 percent classroom and 60 percent laboratory time. Concepts and theory are taught in a classroom setting and then reinforced with hands-on exercises. Working in teams\, participants will disassemble\, inspect\, and determine failure modes for a variety of API 610 overhung pumps. Classroom texts and equipment are generic to all OEMs’ hardware.\n  \nAUDIENCE \nThis course is for mechanics\, millwrights and others who are responsible for maintaining API 610 overhung process pumps.

SUMMARY:Pump System Analysis
DESCRIPTION:This course provides a comprehensive analysis of pump performance and its dependency on operations upstream and downstream from the pump. Students will review pump hydraulics and apply these fundamentals to calculate the reliability of the overall pump system. 60% classroom\, 40% labs and team exercises. \nSpecific topics include: \n\nCalculating friction head losses.\nCalculating total dynamic head\nReviewing system head curves for in-line and branch-line systems.\nComparing parallel vs. series operation.\nVariable speed control vs. valve throttling.\nCalculating NPSH available.\nPump selection recommendations.\nCalculating specific speed and suction specific speed.\n\n\nAUDIENCE \nEngineers; rotating equipment specialists; individuals involved in pump sales and service\, and experienced plant maintenance and operational personnel that have a desire to improve their understanding of pumping systems and the ways those systems can be improved.
