Ruhrpumpen launches their magnetic driven, heavy duty, single stage centrifugal process pump

Ruhrpumpen, an innovative and efficient company on pump technology, announces today the launch of the SCE-M, a magnetic Drive System and Axial Thrust Balancing pump for the petrochemical industry and refineries promising a 100% leakage free performance.

This new pump SCE-M is an is an overhung, single stage, radially split, end suction, heavy duty centrifugal process pump with permanent magnetic drive complying with API 685. This pump has a centerline mounted casing, intermediate housing and single suction. No seals are needed.

SCE-M line provides the highest quality standards based on the worldwide proven hydraulic design of the SCE and this new magnetic driven API version complies with API 685 latest Edition. This pump is maintenance-free and meets the requirements of the TA-Luft (German Technical Instruction on Air Quality Control) and also the high technical and economic demands of refineries and petrochemical industry, therefore providing a long service life.

With over 130 hydraulic combinations available for the SCE-M pump, almost all customer requirements are met. Offering three different impellers for each pump size, this enhances performance and optimizes efficiencies.

SCE-M characteristics speak for itself.

Magnet drive technology means no mechanical seals, therefore spills or leakages of any kind are out of the question, this feature meets the highest environmental standards of nowadays, being possible to manage hazardous fluids at a low operating costs.

Technical specifications of this new addition to the Ruhrpumpen pump line

By using a non-metallic containment shell, e.g. made of Zirconium Oxide, the magnetic losses are eliminated; therefore the efficiency of the pump is increased significantly and great energy savings can be achieved. The containment shell is designed for 40 bar (580 psi) at 120°C and can be used up to an operating temperature of 250°C (482°F).

The patent pending axial and double radial Journal bearing made of “pure” Sintered Silicon Carbide (SSiC) are standard features.

Due to spherical geometry in the pre-loaded locking sleeve, compensating the differences of the linear expansion caused by the material and thermal between “pure” Sintered Silicon Carbide (SSiC) and the pump shaft made of stainless steel in axial and radial direction, the centering of the rotating bearing parts is always guaranteed.

The magnet drive system transmits the torque without slip by a permanent magnetic field. The magnets made of thermally stable samarium cobalt material (Sm2Co17) are suitable in standard for a maximum allowable operating temperature of 250°C (300°C). Special magnet drive systems for an operating temperature up to 450°C are available. The central assembly of the magnetic drive system over the journal bearing avoids moment loadings on the journal bearing, thus avoiding eccentric loading of the inner magnet carrier during startup and shut-down.
