Excel Apparatus Services to Host First Pump System Optimization Training

Excel Apparatus Services, Inc. will jointly host its first Pump System Optimization (PSO) course with WEG Electric Corporation that focuses on key concepts and fundamentals related to greater pump and motor system efficiency.
A leading electrical and mechanical repair service provider for a wide range of manufacturers’ equipment, this includes AC/DC Motors, switchgear, pumps, gearboxes, fans and rolls. Specialty work includes on-line motor analysis and testing, Babbit bearing repair, precision balancing and laser alignment. The PSO course, developed by the Hydraulic Institute and its engineering members, provides Excel the opportunity to offer its customers and other end-users instruction on how to improve pump system operations for greater efficiency and bottom line savings.
“As a vast number of motors are integrated into so many pumping systems, it is important to understand basic pump system interaction and how to identify performance improvements,” states Doug Hinson, Excel President. “By moving into this educational channel, we can provide our customers with a greater value proposition by helping them optimize pumping systems to best efficiency.”
Additionally, he stated, “Whether it’s a steel mill, pulp and paper plant, wastewater, water authority, power generation plant, or chemical processing operation, the need to improve system reliability and energy efficiency has increased over the last five years and will continue to grow.  We, therefore, are addressing an important need in many industries throughout the country.”
The one-day training course, jointly presented by WEG Electric and Excel, will be conducted by certified PSO Instructor William C. Livoti from WEG Electric.  The course will focus on why efficient pumps and motors are important and offer an understanding of the full engineering systems optimization process and specific improvement opportunities in any complex pumping system.
The PSO training event will be held at Excel’s headquarters in North Charleston, SC on August 27, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Online registration for this accredited Excel/WEG Pump System Optimization course can be completed through the Hydraulic Institute’s eStore at http://estore.pumps.org or by calling Mark Sullivan, Director, Education & Marketing, Hydraulic Institute at 973-349-5329.
